LVC Defeats Hood Men, 11-2
ANNVILLE, Pa.--Cody Mai and James Weger scored second-quarter goals 20 seconds apart but the Hood College men's lacrosse team (3-10, 0-4 Commonwealth) suffered an 11-2 Commonwealth Conference defeat at Lebanon Valley College (6-2, 1-2 Commonwealth) in a Commonwealth Conference matchup Saturday.
After the Dutchmen recorded the first four goals of the game, Mai and Weger ripped back-to-back scores to cut the deficit in half. Mai's goal was his fourth of the season while Weger finished a pass from Tucker Palmer for his third rip of the spring.
Joseph McCulloh started in the cage for the fourth time this season and posted a season-high 12 saves on the day.
Randolph Clark had another solid day at the face-off "x", winning 12 of the 16 face-offs he took and collecting 13 ground balls. Domenic Cetrone forced a pair of Dutchmen turnovers and Weger added a forced turnover and picked up four ground balls.
LVC netted three goals in the first quarter, four in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth. Alex Beard had a hand in seven of LVC's 11 scores with six goals and one assist.
Hood hosts three of its final four regular season games at Thomas Athletic Field. The Blazers entertain Messiah College at 4 p.m. Wednesday and Alvernia University Saturday at 1 p.m. Hood will recognize seniors George Gambrell, Adam Patterson, Doug Brisbane, Alex Engler, Joey O'Hara and student assistant coach Will Lane prior to the game.
