Lawrence Becomes All-Time Goal Leader at Hood in 21-6 Victory over Lancaster Bible
FREDERICK, Md.--Senior Caitlin Lawrence of the Hood College women's lacrosse team (2-0) scored a game-high seven times and became the program's all-time leader in goals as the Blazers rolled to a 21-6 nonconference victory over the Lancaster Bible College Chargers (0-1) Tuesday afternoon.
Lawrence, a native of Baltimore, Md., made history for the second straight game when she ripped her third goal of the game 10:51 into the contest. That score eclipsed former teammate and 2010 Hood graduate Brandy Noel's career goals record of 103. Lawrence entered her senior season with 90 tallies in the blue-and-grey, the fifth-most total in program history. She followed up her record-setting 11-goal performance from Saturday against Waynesburg University by tacking on seven more scores versus the Chargers today to overtake Noel for the all-time lead. Lawrence now has 108 goals and 26 assists for 134 total points. The program's all-time points record is 145 held by another former teammate of hers, Kelsey Blackwell '11 (102 goals, 43 assists).
Bailey Czech scored four goals for the Blazers while Brigid Ayer and Ashley Kitzmiller netted three apiece. Megan Feldtmose chipped in a pair of goals and Amy Eyler and Kimi Brunot each found the back of the net for the first time this season.
Jen Civick and Lawrence were each credited with two assists and Ayer and Feldtmose had one apiece. Lawrence also won 11 of the game's 29 draws.
Lauren Couch earned her second win the cage and turned aside seven shots on goal.
LBC's Whitney Heise single-handedly accounted for all six Charger scores.
Hood scored 10 of the game's first 12 goals and held a commanding 16-6 lead at halftime. The Blazers were also successful on 14 of their 18 clear attempts.
Hood hits the road for the first time this season when it travels to Washington & Jefferson Sunday for a 1 p.m. nonconference contest.
