GRANTHAM, Pa.--The Hood College women's lacrosse team (3-7, 0-4 Commonwealth) lost to the No. 14 Messiah College Falcons (6-5, 3-0 Commonwealth), 17-1, Tuesday in Commonwealth Conference action.
Ashley Kitzmiller scored her 12th goal of the spring at the 19:58 mark of the second half to account for Hood's lone goal of the afternoon. Caitlin Lawrence won three draws and KayLynn McCarthy, Carissa Ferguson, Lauren Couch and Kitzmiller were credited with two ground balls apiece. Couch also made 13 saves between the pipes. Besides Kitzmiller's score, Amy Eyler registered Hood's only other shot attempt on the day.
Messiah led 11-0 at halftime and won 15 of the game's 20 draws. Lizzy Keeney had six points on four goals and two assists while Gabrielle Hamelryck had six assists and a goal for seven points for Messiah.
Hood continues its three-game roadtrip Saturday at Alvernia University. The Commonwealth matchup is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
