Women's Lax Falls to Lycoming, 14-2, on Senior Day

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's lacrosse team (3-10, 0-6 Commonwealth) dropped a 14-2 Commonwealth Conference decision to the Lycoming College Warriors (4-10, 1-5 Commonwealth) Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.

Brigid Ayer netted both of Hood's goals, the first with 3:04 to play in the first half and the second on a free-position shot with 7:14 to go in the second half to bring her total on the season to 18.

Lauren Couch had a solid day in the cage, stopping 19 shots, corralling 13 ground balls and making four interceptions. Megan Feldtmose won three draws and Ayer and Kimi Brunot controlled one apiece. Danielle Roberts finished with a pair of caused turnovers while Carissa Ferguson and Brunot had one apiece.

Lycoming scored eight goals in the first half and six in the second. Brooke Strausser led the way with four scores while nine other Warriors collected at least one goal.

The Blazers also recognized seniors Brunot, Amalia Franzese, Caitlin Lawrence and Miriah Stone prior to the contest.

Hood has two Commonwealth games left on the 2013 schedule. The Blazers host Stevenson University Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. and travel to Widener University Saturday for a 1 p.m. draw.
