FREDERICK, Md.—Junior Cameron Cook of the men's basketball team and freshman Olivia Hosch of the women's basketball team have been selected Hood College athletes of the week for the week ending Feb. 3.

Cook, who went to Calvert Hall in Baltimore, had a stellar week for the Blazers and was also named Commonwealth Conference athlete of the week this week as well. Cook led all scorers in a pair of conference road victories that kept Hood’s playoff chances alive.

On Wednesday, Cook had a game-high of 15 points to give the Blazers the season sweep over the Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley. On Saturday Cook continued his hot shooting with another game-high of 18 points to also sweep the season series with Widener. In the two games Cook scored 33 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and snatched away three steals, while also hitting seven treys in the two wins. The two victories were huge for Hood to keep their playoff hopes alive and Cook was the catalyst in the wins.

A product of Cushing Academy in Exeter, R.I., Hosch has seen her production go up in the last few games and it was ever apparent in the team's game against Widener on Saturday. The freshman scored a career-high of 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting in the Blazers' setback to Widener Saturday afternoon. Even though the result did not go the Blazers' way Hosch is showing many signs of improvement and seems to be putting it together at the collegiate level. She is bringing a presence down low that Hood desperately needs and her development should greatly help the Blazers as they finish up the season.

Both basketball teams have two huge home games this week. There is a double-header against Albright this Wednesday and again this Saturday versus Elizabethtown. The Wednesday games are slated to start at 6 and 8 p.m., while the games on Saturday will begin at 1 and 3 p.m. at BB&T Arena.
