FREDERICK, Md.--Senior Luis Cotto of the men’s tennis team and junior Chelsea Young of the women's outdoor track and field team have been tabbed Hood College athletes of the week for the week ending April 7.

Cotto, who went to Tuscarora in Frederick, picked up a singles and doubles victory for his first wins of the season over the weekend at Commonwealth foe Albright College. Cotto won 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 at second singles for an impressive win over the Lions' number two. Cotto also teamed up with Chad Love and picked up the 8-4 win at first doubles to end a very good day for the senior.

A product of nearby Walkersville, Young had a very good meet at the Frostburg State University Invitational over the weekend. The junior won the 200-meters in 26.95 and was second at 400 meters, lowering her school record in the process to 60.39. Young also anchored the winning 4 x 100 meter and 4 x 400 meter relay teams. In all, Young registered 23 points on the day to help lead Hood to a very impressive outing at the unscored invitational.

The men’s tennis team returns to action this Saturday when they host Alvernia University at 11 a.m. while the women’s track and field team will compete in the Hopkins-Loyola Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
