FREDERICK, Md. - Alex Bodine (Frederick, Md. / Urbana) of men's swimming and Lauren Fogarty (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck) of the women's swimming team are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the week ending on February 16, 2014.

Bodine paced the Blazers to a third place finish at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships by becoming the first swimmer, male or female, to qualiy for the NCAA's in school history. He qualified for the NCAA B cut in the 100 back, swimming a school record time of 51.23. 

Bodine helped to set seven more schools records, three more individual and four in the relays. He set the record in the 50 free with a time of 21.75. In the 100 fly preliminaries he swam a time of 51.93, to take close to two seconds off the previous standard. Bodine touched the wall in 51.00 to win the 100 fly and set yet another record. 

The relay records were in the 200 medley (1:36.25), 400 medley (3:30.12), 200 free (1:28.39), and the 400 free (3:12.91). Bodine earned his all-conference team honors in the: 200 medley (first), 400 medley (first), 100 fly (first), 100 back (first), 200 free (second), and 400 free (second). 

Fogarty helped lead the Blazers to a fifth place finish at the conference championships with two individual school records, and three school records in relays. She also earned seven All-MAc Team honors, one first team and six second team. 

The senior broke one of the oldest school records in the 1650 free with a time of 18:15.26. The previous record was set back in 2005 (18:28.29). Fogarty's other individual record came in the 400 IM, when she touched the wall in 4:42.09 and won the event. 

The relay records came in the 200 medley (1:54.23), 800 free (7:59.67), and in the 200 free (1:42.03). Fogarty earned her conference team honors in the: 400 IM (first), 800 free (second), 200 medley (second), 400 medley (second), 200 free (second), 1650 free (second), and the 200 fly (second).
