Esposito, a senior center fielder and three-time All-MAC Commonwealth First Team selection, ranked among the conference leaders in seven different hitting categories. He was second in hits (71), RBIs (tied, 47) and triples (tied, 5); third in doubles (tied, 15); fourth in batting average (.401) and at-bats (177); and fifth in stolen bases (tied, 22). He struck out just nine times all season to go along with a .463 on-base percentage and .542 slugging percentage. His school record 71 hits this year were powered by 22 multi-hit efforts, including a pair of four-hit performances and 10 three-hit games. He scored four times against Gallaudet and had back-to-back four-RBI games against Gettysburg and Dickinson.
Sawyer, an All-MAC Commonwealth Second Team pick as a utility player, was a two-way player for Hood as a position player and pitcher. As a hitter, he led the MAC Commonwealth with a .464 batting average and .531 on-base percentage and his .623 slugging percentage is second. His four triples rank fourth in the league. He had four hits against both Northwestern (Minn.) and Arcadia. As a pitcher, he has appeared in 12 games, starting 11, with four wins, 40 strikeouts and a 4.47 earned run average in 54.1 innings. He tossed a complete game victory against Arcadia. Sawyer was also named Google Drive Academic All-District by CoSIDA.
It is the first career all-region nod for either player and marks the first time that Hood has placed multiple players on the D3baseball All-Region team. The duo helped the Blazers to 32 wins and a trip to the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Championship Game.
