Baseball stopped by Arcadia at MAC Commonwealth Championships

YORK, Pa. - The Hood College baseball team was eliminated from the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships by Arcadia by a 9-2 final score at PeoplesBank Park.

How it Happened 

  • Zak Thomas drove in a run in the second inning and the first run of a two-run fourth as the Knights took a 3-0 lead. 
  • Beck scored on a wild pitch in the sixth before a throwing error by the Blazers allowed run to score in the top of the seventh to make the score 4-1. 
  • Hood cut it to 4-2 in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Brad Sawyer that knocked in Copenhaver. 
  • Nick Ponente doubled with the bases loaded in the eighth to put Arcadia down by five. The Knights added two more in the top of the ninth to put the game out of reach. 


  • Thomas and Trevor Mattson each had two hits for Arcadia, while Thomas and Ponente both drove in three. 
  • Joel Bartoni scattered nine hits and four walks in a complete game win. 
  • Hood finishes the tournament with a 25-13-1 record.
